Class designed to take fear out of public speaking
The Alexandria Technical College (ATC) will offer the class "Scared Speechless: How to Overcome the Fear of Public Speaking" on Thursdays, June 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
This is a six-hour class and will be held at Alexandria Technical College.
Most public speaking courses preach to the converted, according to organizers of the ATC class. They are designed to assist those already interested in speaking in front of others.
But what about those who would rather die than talk in front of others?
The ATC class will help people learn to overcome their fear of speaking in public in a safe, supportive and fun environment. Participants will increase their confidence and experience the thrill of success.
Instructor for this training will be Robin Johnson from Minneapolis. She has taught skill enhancement workshops for Target Corporation, the Ordway, Minnesota Public Radio and the Phipps Center for the Arts.
