Bike Safety Rodeo planned for May 15

Load up your bikes or pedal on down to Voyager Elementary School for the first-ever Kiwanis Bike Safety Rodeo and Family Bike Ride next weekend.

The event is slated for Saturday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From 11 to 11:30 a.m., there will be a bike safety rodeo, which is recommended for students in grades K-6.

Law enforcement officers will be on hand to provide expert instruction during the bike safety rodeo.

A free lunch, courtesy of Pete's County Market and Culver's, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

There will also be a free bike inspection with air and lube.

One lucky boy and girl will win a free bike being given away during the event.

In addition, there will be free helmets and vouchers given away throughout the day.

The Alexandria Bike Club will lead a 1.5-mile family bike ride from noon until 1 p.m., which will begin and end at Voyager Elementary School.

The event is courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria, Jake's Bikes, the Alexandria Bike Club and the Alexandria Police Department.
