Firearm safety classes offered
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, along with local instructors, will offer youth firearms safety training classes at Discovery Middle School 7th grade science rooms in Alexandria on March 15, 16, 19, 22, 23 and 25 from 7 to 9 p.m.
There will be a field exercise and shoot on Saturday, March 27 at the new Alexandria Technical College indoor range starting at 8 a.m.
Students are asked to enter Discovery Middle School on the west side of the building.
All students must be 12 years old by November 15, 2010.
Attending all sessions is mandatory, due to state requirements for certification.
The Minnesota Deer Hunters' Association, Douglas County chapter, will pay the $7.50 registration fee for each student who successfully completes the program.

For those individuals who are 16 or older, the DNR has an online adult firearm safety course that can be completed for certification. Check the DNR website for details.
