Comedy night at Geneva Golf Club

Do golf and comedy really go together? If you have seen the movie, Caddyshack, the answer is definitely yes.

On Saturday, July 11, the Golf Cart Comedy Tour will feature nationally touring comedian John DeBoer and Last Comic Standing comedian Tim Harmston.

The duo will perform at the Geneva Golf Club in Alexandria. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The cost is $35 with a choice of five specialty entrees. To reserve a seat, call the Geneva Golf Club at (320) 762-7092.

A show only event may be added at 10 p.m. if there is enough interest. Call the club at the above number if interested.

About the comedians

Having appeared at comedy clubs, colleges, three federal penitentiaries, as well as on Comedy Central and in national television commercials, John DeBoer's nerve-hitting show flows from the devious side of childhood to the never-ending pressures of today's world. His twisted observations of life and the world around him have earned him a reputation as one of the most consistently strong acts wherever he goes.

Though not a good golfer himself, DeBoer loves to be out on the course.

"I spend a lot of time in the woods, looking for my club," he said. "I know where the ball is. It's right where I left it."

Tim Harmston began his comedy career in 2002 at an open mic night at Mall of America. One year later, he won Acme Comedy Company's 2003 "Funniest Person in the Twin Cities" contest. He was also chosen by Comedy Central to participate in its "Open Mic Fight."

In June of 2008, Harmston made his network television debut on NBC's Last Comic Standing.
