Workshop to examine suicide

Did you know suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15 to 34 year olds or that there are about 500 suicide deaths in Minnesota each year?

A free presentation about suicide and how to prevent it or survive it will be held in Elbow Lake on Saturday, May 9 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Senior Center in the Community Building, 117 Central Avenue North.

It's organized by the training and education committee of the Region IV South Adult Mental Health Initiative. The featured speaker will be Dr. Daniel J. Reidenberg, executive director of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) and managing director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention. A suicide survivor and an area mental health professional will also participate.

A question and answer period will follow the presentation. Handouts are included with registration. Bars and beverage will be served during break time.
