Auditions planned for Prairie Wind Players Theatre

Prairie Wind Players Community Theatre will hold auditions at Roosevelt Hall in Barrett for its upcoming production Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story.

The auditions will take place Fridays, April 17 and 24 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays, April 18 and 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. The production will take place August 19-23 at Roosevelt Hall in Barrett.

Following is a list of the characters that will be cast April 17 and 18. For any of these roles, you must sing and play all or part of the song listed:

Buddy Holly - Peggy Sue or Rave On! (must accompany yourself on guitar).

Ritchie Valens - LaBamba (may accompany yourself on guitar, a CD is available to sing along with).

The Big Bopper - Chantilly Lace (CD available).

Jack Daw - Why Do Fools Fall in Love? (sing a cappella or a CD is available).

The Crickets - must demonstrate ability on drum set and stand-up bass. Bring your own instruments if you have them.

During the second weekend of auditions, April 24-25, numerous non-singing, speaking parts will be cast including:

Maria-Elena Holly - Buddy's wife. She has only one scene.

MaryLou Sokolof - Must be able to sing the National Anthem.

Highpockets Duncan - a radio DJ who will have numerous scenes.

Decca Record producer - this part is only in one scene.

Norman Petty - a record producer with multiple scenes.

Vi Petty - Must be able to play piano.

There are a number of other parts of mixed ages and gender, which are all essential to filling out the cast. Parts include onlookers and dancers, announcers, emcees and many others.
