YMCA offers spring, summer programs

Alexandria Area YMCA leaders say they're excited for the snow to melt so they can get the kids off of the couch and over to their programs.

The YMCA has a variety of classes in its new spring/summer brochure. It's bringing back two different weeks of t-ball, adding on three new week-long camps, and has teamed up with the Alexandria Technical College for a new "Y" exercise program.

The YMCA is also teaming up with Andes Tower Hills and Smoky Timbers for a Summer Camp Program.

Andes Tower Hills has more than 900 acres to conduct a different summer camp program for kids grades K-9.

Smoky Timbers is a beautiful rustic campground where kids can hike, swim, and explore the trails. Seventh to 9th graders will have an opportunity to be junior counselors.

Campers will be bused to Andes or Smoky Timbers each day from Discovery Middle School at 9 a.m. and returned home each evening at 5 p.m.; with the exception of the one-day camps and the overnight campout (no overnight for kids grades K-1).

Each week will also feature a parent night, including a family potluck and camp program. These camps are filled with fishing, hiking, canoeing, archery, crafts and more.

Once you have registered for the camp, you will be e-mailed more detailed information, including health forms.
