Healthy volunteers needed to donate blood
Every day, an average of 38,000 pints of blood are needed for patients in the United States.
The American Red Cross would like to remind eligible individuals that the stability of the nation's blood supply is in the hands of healthy, volunteer blood donors who give generously for others in need.
Upcoming blood donation opportunities include the following:
Wednesday, February 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Armory in Alexandria.
Monday, February 23, noon to 6 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 605 Douglas, Alexandria.
Tuesday, February 24, noon to 6 p.m., Calvary Lutheran Church, 605 Douglas, Alexandria.
To donate blood, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit givebloodlife.org to make an appointment or for more information.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form where state permits, must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
