Three blood drives set for this week

Rare blood types are found in all communities, regardless of ethnicity.

During Black History Month, the American Red Cross celebrates the critical contributions African Americans make to helping the Red Cross maintain a diverse and stable blood supply for patients across the United States.

The Red Cross says it is committed to maintaining a diverse base of blood donors to help ensure there is enough blood of each type to help patients with serious medical needs.

Upcoming blood donation opportunities in the area are as follows:

February 2 - 1 to 7 p.m. at Village Hall in Brandon.

February 4 - 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Armory, 311 Broadway, Alexandria.

February 5 - Noon to 6 p.m. at the Community Center in Osakis.
