I-94 work to begin soon
Get ready for some delays if you're traveling on Interstate 94 out of Alexandria.
A pavement marking project will begin Thursday, August 7.
Work will start on I-94 from the Douglas/Todd County line to Highway 114 (near the Garfield exit).
The contractor will perform preliminary work at the east end of the east section of the project next Thursday, with the full project operation beginning Monday, August 11.
Crews will begin the process by grooving the pavement, then striping the edge lines with wet reflective paint and placing poly-perform tape in the lane lines.
Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime lane and shoulder closures, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
Crews will work 24 hours a day, beginning at 7 a.m. on Mondays through noon on Fridays.
The next section of the project is on I-94 between the north section of Highway 59 to Highway 79, followed by the stretch of freeway between Highway 34 to the Wilkin/Otter Tail County line.
Work is expected to wrap up by October 3.
MnDOT urges motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling through a work zone.
