State economic development leader to visit Alexandria
The community is welcome to visit with Commissioner Dan McElroy of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) at the Alexandria WorkForce Center, 303 22nd Avenue West, Suite 107, Alexandria from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10.
As part of his duties as commissioner, McElroy chairs the boards of The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, the Urban Initiative loan program, and the Public Facilities Authority. He is also a member of the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board, the Blandin Foundation's Broadband Initiative Advisory Board, and the Minnesota Bio Business Alliance Board.
McElroy is a trustee of the Minnesota State College and University System, which includes 32 institutions of higher education with 54 campuses across the state.
McElroy joined Governor Tim Pawlenty's leadership team in 2003 as commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Finance, where he was an architect of the budget, which addressed a $4.56 billion budget deficit without raising taxes. He later served as the governor's chief of staff before becoming the governor's senior advisor on innovation in 2005.
