Fields of Faith

Several hundred teens and adults are expected to gather at the Alexandria Area High School football field for an event called Fields of Faith from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Begun 10 years ago by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the event will include a band with worship songs, testimonies of faith, and a message challenging students to read the Bible. It's aimed at students in sixth grade through college, but adults are welcome too, said Dee Novotny, an adult volunteer with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Last year, close to 600 people attended, and buses from surrounding towns have added to the throngs, Novotny said.

The event is led by students, she said. After the event, students are welcome to warm up and eat pizza at NorthStar Christian Academy, 3888 Pioneer Road SE in Alexandria.

Meatball supper

Glenwood Lutheran Church will hold a meatball supper from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at its church at 206 East Minnesota Ave. in Glenwood. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 5-10 and free for ages 4 and under.

Lights of Honor

Ecumen Bethany Community is holding a Lights of Honor Celebration at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, in its chapel. The special service and fundraiser allows worshippers a way to honor someone whose life impacts them, remember a loved one who has passed, or celebrate a person or special occasion in their life. The annual All-Saints service provides the opportunity of reflection, while also raising funds for the Bethany campus for landscaping upgrades. Honor lanterns cost $50 and can be purchased at www.ecumengiving.org. Order forms are also available at Ecumen Bethany Community, 1020 Lark Street, Alex. For questions, call 320-763-2192 or email randeehall@ecumen.org.
