Second annual community Easter vigil planned

The Easter vigil celebrated on Saturday evening before Easter is an ancient yet ever-new Christian tradition that highlights the themes of faith that arise from questions in the search for meaning.

All are invited to a community and inter-church Easter vigil service on Saturday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Shalom Lutheran Church, 681 Voyager Dr. Alexandria.

The service planned by local Methodist and Lutheran pastors begins around a fire outdoors, weather permitting, and then processes inside with the paschal candle. It will continue with proclaiming the biblical texts of creation, covenant, prophecy, and Easter resurrection, and concludes with communion.
