Mikko Cowdery to perform at gospel songfest Sunday, July 21

Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Alexandria will host a songfest of hymns and gospel music with Mikko Cowdery on Sunday, July 21 at 4 p.m. (contributed)

Mikko Cowdery, a member of the award-winning Skilly and Duff Irish Band, will perform a songfest of hymns and gospel music on Sunday, July 21 at 4 p.m.

This event is hosted by and will take place at Emmanuel Episcopal Church as a part of its 2013 Summer Concert Series. Emmanuel is located at the corner of 12th Avenue and Lake Street in Alexandria.

A reception will follow in the parish hall where the artist will be on hand to meet and visit with audience members.

The cost is $6 or $5 with a donation of one non-perishable food item, which will go to the Outreach Food Shelf. Admission for children younger than age 11 is free. Seating is limited. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Cowdery has performed music for more than 50 years. Along with his lifelong love of Irish music, Cowdery's genre of music ranges from folk, pop and country to rockabilly, Broadway and bluegrass.

At age 11, he made his first public performance and has been performing ever since.
