Awana resumes at New Life
Awana, a Bible education ministry for children, will start up again at New Life Christian Church, 1910 County Road 82 SE in Alexandria, after a summer break. Welcome Back Night is set for Wednesday, Sept. 12, with a family supper from 5:45-6:30 p.m. followed by a parent meeting, registration and kids activities.
Awana will meet each Wednesday from 6:25-8 p.m. beginning Sept. 19 and running through the second week of May. Its name is an acronym based on a Bible verse, "Approved workmen are not ashamed."
Awana welcomes children age 4 through sixth grade. It includes handbook study, lessons, social interaction and games. It is led by volunteers. For more information, call 320-763-7051 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kensington church hosts country fair
First Lutheran Church in Kensington will hold a country fair with food, crafts and a "trash to treasure" sale from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.
The fair is being organized by the church's branch of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
During the fair, the church will serve lunch. There will also be a bake sale, a Scandinavian dessert table, produce for sale and grab bags.
Brandon church holds fall bazaar
St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon will hold its annual fall bazaar on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 402 Nelson Ave. N. in Brandon.
The event will feature children's games, a cake walk, bingo, a farmer's market and silent auction. From 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., the church will serve chicken and pork chops with sides, as well as pie.
