Historic Spruce Hill Church service
Historic Spruce Hill Church will hold a summer song service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, with music by Lynn Olson and friends, pianist Emily Larson, congregational favorites, special music with the Gordon Men's Choir, and horse-drawn wagon rides to a picnic in Spruce Hill Park. There will be a free-will offering for the picnic, which includes hot dogs, potato salad and dessert.
The church is at 13148 Spruce Hill Park Road NE, Miltona. It's owned by the Douglas County Historical Society, and the summer service is one of three annual scheduled events at the site. Special night of music
Choral conductors and pianists Milt and Andrew Scott will lead a special night of music and worship at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Mount Carmel Ministries Camp and Conference Center, 800 Mount Carmel Drive NE, in Alexandria.
This father-son duo will lead an evening of traditional hymns and songs, which the camp said will appeal to the whole family. Pastors Lon and Heidi Kvanli will speak.
Annual hymn sing
Lake Chippewa Covenant Church will hold its annual hymn sing at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, featuring Pam Anderson playing gospel song requests. An ice cream social will follow the service. The church is 3 and 1/4 miles north of Garfield on County Road 12. Everyone is welcome.
Power and influence
Scott Hagan will speak about "The Art of Power and Influence" at the Unity Foundation's monthly Faith @ Work Lunch, from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria. Tickets cost $10 per person and can be purchased at the Common Ground Coffee House, Mustard Seed Market or at the door.
