Sending kids to camp

Aiming to defray expenses for children to attend Lake Beauty Bible Camp in Long Prairie, Calvary Covenant Church will host a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at 404 Meeker St. in Evansville.

Deb Berry and Lisa Henrichs will sing uplifting music, accompanied by Mary Langlie.

A free will offering will be taken and refreshments will follow the concert.

Financial Peace University returns to Alexandria

New Testament Church in Alexandria will show the popular "Financial Peace University" video series, a nine-week course on managing personal finances by radio talk show host Dave Ramsey.

The class will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the church, 2505 Hwy 29. To register, visit www.fpu.com/1064635.

Ramsey teaches lessons on budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing.

Drawn to the Word

Artist and Pastor Paul Oman will literally draw the congregation to the word at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 20, when he paints a larger-than-life-sized mural of Shalom Lutheran Church's vision and core values.

The church says the story he tells will unfold artistically, musically, narratively and scripturally, and that everyone is welcome. Following worship, Oman will hold a special workshop where he quickly draws the Bible story on large paper. Students will read and hear the story, then color his pictures, adding their own drawings.

Shalom is at 681 Voyager Drive in Alexandria.
