Climate group shows free film
The local chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby is sponsoring a free showing of the film, "Age of Consequences," from 12:45-2:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Douglas County Library.
The Jared P. Scott film looks at the ripple effects of climate change around the world. It examines how a Syrian drought helped send up to 1.5 million rural residents to Syrian cities, contributing to unrest prior to civil war there, which fanned into a refugee crisis in Europe.
Described as "The Hurt Locker" meets "An Inconvenient Truth," the film features admirals, generals, and military veterans talking about about the social unrest of the Arab Spring, the rise of radicalized groups like ISIS, and the European refugee crisis.
Citizens Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.
