At Douglas County Library: Fun socks, Legos and oh yeah, books!

The Douglas County Library is a hopping place this summer. Performers and programs will offer something to do almost every day of the week.

For those kids who love crafts, the library will help them to make a button or tie-dyed pair of socks (please bring your own pair of socks) on Wednesday, July 26. Young builders might enjoy our lego event on Thursday, July 27. Both events are at 2 p.m.

When it comes to books, several popular series releasing new books this summer include Chris Colfer's Land of Stories series, Cassandra Clare's The Dark Artifices series, and Erin Hunter's new Bravelands series.

Youth librarian Ms. Sarah will help any child find a book perfect for summer reading. To avoid summer slide, keep children engaged with books all summer long.

And of course, as the summer continues, be sure to mark your calendar for the Douglas County Friends of the Library big annual summer book sale at the armory. The sale is Wednesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 3 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Profits from the book sale will help the library with programming costs.

Any questions about youth programming, including storytime, going on through early August, can be directed to youth librarian Sarah Wethern at 320-762-3013.
