Frosty conditions

Heavy frost covers the trees at the Carlos-Darling bridge north of Alexandria Wednesday morning. The combination of open water and cold morning temperatures has been creating a brilliant display of frost crystals in the area. Frost forms when water vapor in the air condenses as ice crystals on cold objects. The water next to the bridge typically stays open all winter, however a large section of the south end of Lake Carlos has been open due to recent warm and windy weather.
