The Brandon and Evansville Lions clubs recently co-sponsored the annual Lions International Peace Poster contest for the Brandon-Evansville 6th grade class.

Students were asked to create a poster based on the 2013 theme “Our world, our future.”

Posters were judged based on the originality, expression of theme and artistic merit.

The winning poster, which will go on to the Lions 5M4 District judging, was created by Camilla Fletcher. Second place was awarded to Sophie Martin and third place to Tanner Bitzan.

Each year, Lions clubs around the world sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups.

This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.

For 26 years, more than 4 million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

Posters will be on display at the Evansville school through Friday, November 1 and at Bremer Bank in Brandon Monday through Friday, November 4-8.
