Celebrate summer in Osakis

The Osakis Festival is back for its 45th annual run June 20-23. The four-day event includes bake sales, music, tournaments, vendors and more.

It is sponsored by the Osakis Women's Association and the Osakis Chamber of Commerce. Following is a schedule:


Salad Luncheon at

Pollard Community Center

11 a.m. Vendor booths, silent auction and voting.

Noon: Lunch, table decoration contest; open to the public; tickets $10; (320) 859-4186.


Senior Citizen Day at

Pollard Community Center

9 a.m. Bake sale, cards.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Musical entertainment.

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Home-cooked meal; $4 NSI member, $6 non-member; call for reservations by June 19; (320) 859-2325.

1 p.m. Free bingo.

3 p.m. Snacks and beverages.

Summer Music Festival

5:30 p.m. Greater Minnesota Children's Choir Festival Concert at Osakis High School auditorium; admission $2; free picnic meal following concert, OWA.

Meat Raffle

5:30 p.m. Osakis VFW.


Scramble for Charity

Charity Golf Tournament; 4-person drop-out scramble; 7 a.m. Registration; 8 a.m. Shotgun start. 18 holes $35 for members, $45 for non-members; lunch provided. To register, call (320) 859-2140.

Park Osagi

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flea market, vendors, crafts and food vendors.

10 a.m. Sand pile money hunt.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Erickson Petting Zoo - ponies.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Clueless the balloon twister, face painter.

12:30 p.m. Kids old fashioned races, ages 3-12; 13+ egg toss.

6:30 p.m. Fire department water fights.

Youth Baseball Tournament

9 a.m. LeRoy Mackove Athletic Complex in Osakis; Little league ball, age 11 or younger; Brad Zimmel, (320) 808-1509.

Osakis Muni Bean Bag Tournament

1 p.m. Registration; 1:30 p.m. Rules; 2 p.m. tournament at Osakis Liquor Store. Two-person teams, $5 per person, 100 percent payout.

Bow Fishing Carp Tournament

6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday: $50 entry fee, $50 if registered before June 15; (320) 760-0790.

Street Dance

8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Osakis Liquor Store Parking Lot; music by Minimum Maintenance and Dana and the Bottle Rockets.
