Student accomplishments and scholarships
Courtney Thoennes accepted to sorority:
The women of the Sigma Psi chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority at North Dakota State University (NDSU) welcome Courtney Thoennes of Alexandria, daughter of William and Melody Thoennes, into their sisterhood. Kappa Delta strives to promote women to greatness and to promote confidence in women and girls. As a freshman at NDSU, Courtney is studying psychology.
Sara Schmidt of Alexandria, daughter of Edward Schmidt and Bernie Obrigewitsch, received a $4,000 University Scholarship from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). The University Scholarship awards $1,000 for the freshman year and is given to students admitted to MSUM with a composite ACT score of 24-25 and a high school rank in the top 50 percent, or a composite ACT score of 21-23 and a high school class rank in the top 10 percent. It is renewable for a maximum of four years with a 3.5 GPA. Schmidt intends to major in elementary inclusive education.
