Todd Green to give concerts in Evansville

Todd Green plays more than 30 musical instruments. He will perform concerts at Evansville Public School March 21 and 22.

The Evansville Art Center (EAC) will be one of only six sites in Minnesota to host the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street 2011 traveling exhibit, "New Harmonies." The exhibit features interactive displays on how music played a part in developing cultures and vice versa.

EAC will host the exhibit June 18 to July 30, and as part of it, will hold other events throughout the year that relate to music.

The first event is several performances by Todd Green on the following dates. All will be held at the Evansville Public School west gym in Evansville.

• Monday, March 21, 10 to 11 a.m. - for students in kindergarten through grade 6;

• Monday, March 21, 1 to 2 p.m. for students in grades 7 to 12;

• Tuesday, March 22, 7 to 9:15 p.m. - free public performance.

The public is invited to attend any of the events. There is no charge.

Green plays more than 30 string, flute and percussion instruments from all over the world. His custom-built electronics system allows him to layer instrument sounds as he plays and turn him into a one-man band. His concert features original music inspired by cultures in the Middle East, Asia, South America and Africa.
