Douglas County 4-H Dog Show yields rewards

The Douglas County 4-H Dog Show was held on Friday, August 6 at the 4-H building at the fairgrounds. Nineteen youth and their dogs participated in agility, jumpers, showmanship and obedience events.

In the elementary agility class, Heidi Larson of Alexandria and Chet, Lucky Star 4-H Club, received grand champion. Marilla Paradee of Osakis and Lily, Contenders 4-H Club, received reserve champion. In the jumpers class, receiving grand champion was Larson and Chet. Receiving reserve champion was Paradee and Lily. Larson received overall trophies for agility and jumpers.

The dog show then moved inside for the obedience classes. In the beginner A class, Samantha Kakac of Alexandria and Hunter, independent member, received grand champion. Reserve Champion went to Connor Schlosser of Miltona and Chewy of Carlos Happy Helpers 4-H Club.

Brady Hoppe of Carlos and Romey, Spruce Hill Rangers 4-H Club, received grand champion in the beginner B class with reserve champion going to James Gabrielson of Alexandria and Sassy, Hoofbeats 4-H Club.

In the graduate beginner class, Paradee and Lily earned the grand champion placing while Larson and Chet earned the reserve champion ribbon. The junior obedience trophy was awarded to Hoppe and the senior obedience trophy was awarded to Paradee.

Two showmanship classes followed. In the novice class, grand champion went to Kyle Reed of Osakis and Ally, Contenders 4-H Club. Receiving the reserve champion placing was Ember Willard of Miltona and Summer, Contenders 4-H Club.

The novice showmanship trophy in memory of Grant Lindberg was awarded to Kyle Reed of Osakis. The open showmanship trophy was awarded to Hoppe.

In the open showmanship class, Tyler Hoppe of Carlos and Ali, Spruce Hill Rangers 4-H Club, earned the grand champion placing, while reserve champion went to Paradee and Lily.

The results will be on exhibit at the Douglas County Fair August 19 to 22.
