Fall Adult Basic Education classes begin August 26
Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes, including General Education Development (GED) preparation, will be offered this fall through Community Education at the ABE location at the Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) campus, Building 700 North, Rooms 710-712.
Class times and days for general classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Following are some specific classes:
● English as a Second Language (ESL), Thursdays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This class is for adults whose native language is not English and who want to improve their English skills. Citizenship preparation is also offered.
● College Prep Math, Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 26 through December 18, 9 to 10 a.m., Room 710.
● Computer/Writing Skills, Mondays and Wednesdays, October 6 through November 26, 6 to 9 p.m. This class is for anyone wishing to update their computer skills.
Free online GED or ACCUPLACER test preparation classes are available and can be accessed from most Internet-connected computers. Also offered online are ESL and basic brush-up classes in reading, writing and math.
Anyone 17 or older who has basic educational needs and is not presently enrolled in a high school is welcome to attend. Students can begin at any time during the year and finish when their goals have been met.
