The event was held at Brainerd High School and featured performances from several area conference schools, including Alexandria, Sauk Rapids-Rice, Brainerd, Sartell and Little Falls.

Alexandria was represented at the event with 58 entries. Student performances were evaluated and assessed by professional adjudicators on several criteria such as tone quality, technical use of instrument, rhythm, articulation, tempo, performance technique, interpretation and musicianship, dynamics and personal appearance.

In each performance center, judges awarded the Outstanding Performance in Site award for student performances that scored at the top in each site. Alexandria had four outstanding performances throughout the day.

The performances that were awarded outstanding in site were Paul Meland, tenor sax solo; Devyn Dennie, flute solo; Jazz Combo (Paul Meland, Geoffrey Griepentrog, Sam Christenson, Sam Carlson, and Kirby Karpan); and the wind ensemble percussion ensemble.

Accompanists for the students included Nathan Doege, Glenda Seela, Karen Erickson, Darla Storm and Peggy Kallevig.
