Local speech team earns first

The Alexandria speech team won first place at the Detroit Lakes 2013 Speech Tournament on March 16.

Winning first place in their categories were Claire Wilmeiser in creative expression, Colin Robertson in discussion, Paige Mackadanz in dramatic interpretation and Isabelle Hartokolis in prose.

Winning second place in their categories were Mason Settler in discussion, Lydia Gusaas in extemporaneous reading and Kylee Johnson in humorous interpretation.

Other winners on the team include: McKayla Petrie, fourth place in creative expression; Samantha Engstrom, fourth place in poetry interpretation, sixth place in humorous interpretation; Breanna Fike, sixth place in informative speaking; Brittany Wallerich, third place in prose interpretation; Mari Senstad, seventh place in prose interpretation.
