"Faith on Fire," the Zion School community auction, is set for Saturday, November 20 at Zion School, 300 Lake Street in Alexandria.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. with the first group of silent auction tables closing at 5 p.m. and every half hour thereafter. The live auction will start at 7 p.m. There is a lunch wagon available.

This year's silent and live auctions feature about 300 items, including a Twins package, iPod Shuffle, handmade items, caramels, gift certificates, Trek bikes, autographed Percy Harvin picture, St. Paul Saints, Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx, Alexandria Beetles and Alexandria Blizzard tickets, ice fishing challenge tickets, Andes Tower Hills family of four season passes, jewelry, ceramic fire pit and more.

All students at Zion help with the event. Each class makes or donates something. The 7th and 8th graders learn letter writing and computer skills by looking up addresses and names of sports teams and businesses and writing letters to request donations.

Students created note cards for a basket, designed and finished a mosaic table top, created a library basket, designed artwork for display, and decorated aprons. A gift card tree, Christmas basket, and a winter survival kit are among other baskets that will be available.

This year's event includes an online auction where a select group of items not on the silent/live auction can be bid on. To find these items go to These items close on November 18 at 10 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend. For information or the complete auction bill visit the Zion website at
