Locals to put on donkey basketball show

The public is invited to attend a Donkey Basketball Show on Saturday, March 1 at 7 p.m. at the Jefferson High School (JHS) gymnasium in Alexandria.

The Donkey Basketball Show will feature two double-header games played by local community members. But there’s a catch. The players must play the games while riding real, live donkeys.

The first game will be JHS teachers versus JHS students. The second game will be local clergy versus Alexandria firemen.

The donkeys were specially selected for the show, which will be presented by the Dairyland Donkey Ball, LLC of Chippewa, Wisconsin.

The show is sponsored by the Alexandria Marching Band. All proceeds will be for the benefit of the band students’ trip to Norway in 2015.

Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. They may be purchased from members of the Marching Band or at the JHS activities office, (320) 762-2142.
