Giving blood can help cancer patients
Donating blood can help cancer patients during chemotherapy, surgery or treatment for complications, says the American Red Cross, which is holding four blood drives in Douglas County in October.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to support cancer patients and others.
Donors of all blood types are needed to help ensure a sufficient supply for patients this fall.
There are three opportunities to donate blood in Alexandria:
• 12-6 p.m. Oct. 16, Cornerstone Church, 202 7th Ave. E.
• 12-6 p.m. Oct. 17, Cornerstone Church, 202 7th Ave. E.
