Dean's list

Kylie Detschman from Alexandria earned a GPA of at least 3.5 and was named to the dean's list at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, Minn for spring 2017 semester. Detschman is studying dental assisting.

Two Osakis students, Emily Backes and Brooke Wiener, earned a GPA of at least 3.5 and were named to the dean's list at Bemidji State University for spring semester.

Two local students earned a GPA of at least 3.8 and were named to the dean's list for spring semester at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph:

• Taylor Kraemer, daughter of Ken and Stephanie Kraemer of Osakis, is a junior elementary education major.

• Kendra Sukke, daughter of Tim and Jennifer Sukke of Carlos is a junior nursing major.

Ryan Strelow, son of Brad and Julie Strelow of Osakis, earned a GPA of at least 3.8 and was named to the dean's list for spring semester at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Strelow is a first-year mathematics and computer science major at SJU.

College graduations

Two Alexandria students graduated this spring from The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth:

Stephanie Anderson, a Webster Scholar with a bachelor of arts degree in biology and Tanya Wright with a bachelor of science in nursing.

Awards and honors

A team from Alexandria Technical and Community College received the College Gold Medal in mechatronics at the 2017 SkillsUSA Championships. William White and Edward Wilmesmeier were among more than 6,000 students from across the country who participated.

Mari Senstad, whose parents are Al and Karin Senstad of Alexandria, was named to the 2017 Homecoming Committee at Concordia College in Moorhead. Senstad, a sophomore, will sit on the Campus Entertainment Commission.

Local students among graduates at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (July 12, 2017) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire celebrated the achievements of 1,272 graduates during commencement proceedings held on May 20 in Zorn Arena.

A total of 1,173 students received bachelor's degrees, including 482 from the College of Arts and Sciences, 325 from the College of Business, 292 from the College of Education and Human Sciences, and 74 from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Ninety-nine students received Master's degrees. The graduates included 13 from the College of Arts and Sciences, 29 from the College of Business, 35 from the College of Education and Human Sciences, and 22 from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
