The stage at Minnewaska Area High School (MAHS) has been transformed into a colorful, candy-filled world of pure imagination.

On March 15, 16 and 17, students will bring to life author Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir, Willy Wonka.

The musical combines elements of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with the songs from the 1971 family film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

The student actors range from grades 5-12 and include veterans of the stage as well as those new to the spotlight.

Performances of Willy Wonka begin Friday, March 15 for school audiences. Public performances are Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m.
