Halloween event to raise funds for humane society

Tomey is just one of many pets available for adoption at the Lakes Area Humane Society.

The Lakes Area Humane Society (LAHS) celebrated its 10th anniversary this past summer and is very proud to have the opportunity to continue to offer many valuable services to our community and the animals in need.

This year alone, the shelter is on track to serve more than 1,900 animals! This has been made possible by support provided by the caring individuals and businesses in this community, through donations, memberships and fundraising.

We are excited to be hosting a fun filled fundraising event to help raise money to continue to care for animals we serve.

Join the Lakes Area Humane Society on Friday, October 30 for a Hypnotic Halloween Fundraiser and Costume Party at the Holiday Inn Barn in Alexandria.

The festivities will begin with social hour and cash bar at 7 p.m. A show by Dream Weaver Comedy Hypnotist, Randy Buker, will begin at 8 p.m. In addition, there will be a costume contest and music by John Rice of Decades DJ services following the show.

The evening is planned as a fun family affair. Put on your Halloween costumes, bring the whole family and prepare for a night of frighteningly hilarious entertainment and fun.

Tickets are available for only $10 each and will be limited to the first 300 sold. You can purchase your tickets in advance at the following locations - Lakes Area Insurance in Brandon and Billmark's Lakes Area Insurance, Viking Savings Bank and the Lakes Area Humane Society, all in Alexandria. If any tickets are still available, they will be sold at the door. However, to ensure a place, you are encouraged to get your tickets early.

The Alexandria Holiday Inn, Dream Weaver Comedy Show and Decades DJ Services have come together to create this exciting event. All proceeds from the event will go directly to benefit the Lakes Area Humane Society.

Your support is not only good for the puppies and kitties at the humane society, it's also good for your funny bone!

Also, if you are seeking a new pet to join your family, don't forget to stop by the LAHS shelter, as we have many available just waiting for the perfect, loving home.

The shelter is open to the public on Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
