The Alexandria Rotary Club has sponsored many international and local projects, including study exchange groups from France, Mexico and Sweden. It provided one of the gazebos at the Maritime Gardens, the wood working room at Grand Arbor, and most recently, the new garden shed at the historical society.

Brock Wood and Jesse Hacker dropped their oars into the water at the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 17. For the next two months, they will paddle their way 2,350 miles down the mighty river.

“Helping someone else through tough times makes you appreciate what you have,” said Tammy Lenz, who has been volunteering at Birthright in Alexandria for 15 years. Birthright provides caring, non-judgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy.
