A groundbreaking ceremony for a new mental health building at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is planned for Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m. The ceremony location is the construction site located north of Building 28 and west of Building 9.
The annual Veterans Art Show is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, February 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Auditorium (Building 8) on the main campus of the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. The show is open to the public.

To help keep veterans healthy during the flu season, the St. Cloud VA Health Care System has scheduled several flu shot clinics this fall. Flu shots for veterans enrolled with the VA are free and an appointment is not necessary. The flu shots are available at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud or any of the VA’s three clinics across central Minnesota.
The St. Cloud VA Health Care System will host a chronic pain management seminar on Thursday, Oct. 25, to educate veterans and their families on mind-body wellness techniques to assist with self-management of chronic pain.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki recently announced the department would add approximately 1,600 mental health clinicians as well as nearly 300 support staff to its existing workforce. VA estimates that 7 additional clinicians and 2 support personnel will be hired to support mental health operations at the St. Cloud VA. Recruitment for those positions is underway.
