The White Ribbon Campaign started in Alexandria today, March 1. Throughout the month, people will be wearing white ribbons and taking a pledge to never commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women and children.
A step in the right direction, and another, and another. Citizens, victims and survivors of domestic violence led the sixth annual Taking Steps Against Domestic Violence walk through Alexandria on Tuesday to raise awareness of the crime.
She was a mother. A grandmother. A sister. A daughter. A co-worker. A neighbor. A friend.
And she was a wife.
Although Linda Lee Green continues to be all of those things to her loved ones, she is also now a statistic.
Someplace Safe in Alexandria, along with Wings Family Supportive Services and Uniting Communities Advocating Non-Violence (UCAN), are hosting the third annual Taking Steps Against Domestic Violence next Tuesday, October 13.
