Each year, thousands of brave and generous Minnesotans gather around the state to take a dip into many of Minnesota’s 10,000 frozen lakes.
Polar Bear Plunge events are organized by Minnesota law enforcement agencies as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics. In 2011, nearly $2.4 million was raised through this initiative.
More than 200 adrenaline junkies are expected to be "freezin' for a reason" Sunday, February 27 as they jump into the frozen water for the Alexandria Polar Bear Plunge to raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota.
