Why are our pulpits so silent when so-called Christians and Jews are rioting in the streets of America, seething with xenophobia against the Muslim population of our country, but supposedly committed to liberty and justice for all?
Wow! Who would have thought that politics could be this much fun with all those cavorting elephants and Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane in town together for a whee of a Wild West show, along with a bang-up crowd ready to raise hell and rally round the flag!
If there should be any Christians among the host of tea party rabble rousers, I would suggest that they return home immediately and review what Jesus of Nazareth has to say about our responsibility to the poor, the destitute and the disenfranchised in the New Testament.
Kudos to the director, staff, cast and crew who presented a superlative production of Oliver! this past weekend at AAAA Theatre. Those in the Alexandria community who failed to attend missed a local cultural event, rarely to be seen on any stage anywhere.
