Pastor Eric Van Scharrel will be installed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2702 Highway 29 North in Alexandria on Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. There will be time to greet the pastor and his family during a reception that follows the installation service.
Reverend Susan Davidson was installed as associate pastor for youth and family ministry at St. Luke’s Church of Garfield. The installation was held on September 4 at the 9 a.m. worship service.
Davidson will direct the youth ministry and oversee the educational programs at St. Luke’s Church.
Last week, members of Bemidji United Methodist Church received a letter from their bishop, Sally Dyck. “I am writing to inform you that I am removing your pastor, Rev. John Roberts, from his appointment at Bemidji UMC and he will not be returning,” she wrote.
“Pastor in jail for preaching the Bible!” That will soon be a headline somewhere in our country and maybe even in Alexandria, since the House passed on Thursday, April 30, a plan to create a federal “hate crimes” plan that will provide special protections to homosexuals and others with alternative sexual choices, but leave Christian pastors open to prosecution should their teachings be linked to any subsequent offense, by anyone, against a “gay” person.
