The number of preliminary Minnesota motorcyclist fatalities hit 26 following a deadly July when seven riders were killed, tied with May for deadliest month of the year for riders. This year’s rider deaths are slightly up compared to the 23 at this time last year, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) Motorcycle Safety Center (MMSC).
Public safety officials remind motorcyclists and motorists to drive carefully and share the road following a deadly month for riders in May when seven were killed. There have been 13 rider deaths to-date this year, compared to five at this time in 2011.
The 6th annual Motorcycle Ride for Habitat for Humanity will take place Saturday, May 26 at Apol’s Harley-Davidson in Alexandria. There will be a gathering and refreshments at 10 a.m. Registration will start at 11 a.m. with the ride departing at noon.
