Sister Patrice retires after five decades of service to hospitals
Sister Patrice Kiefer was drawn to the role of human resources director at Douglas County Hospital (DCH) because of her love of working with people.
It has been that same love that has kept Sister Patrice in a vital role at DCH, and in the region, caring for staff and patients on a daily basis.
She is retiring this winter after more than 53 years of service to the community.

Douglas County Hospital re-designated as level 3 trauma hospital by state
Douglas County Hospital (DCH) was recently re-designated as a level 3 trauma hospital by The Minnesota Department of Health.
“The goal of the trauma system is to decrease injured patients’ time-to-care by making sure their medical needs are appropriately matched with hospital resources,” said Dr. Edward Ehlinger, Minnesota Commissioner of Health.

A different kind of family
After 34 years, Kevin and Marilyn Weedman say goodbye to the county hospital.
Since 1978, Douglas County Hospital (DCH) has seen many changes.
1981 brought more hospital beds and advances in X-ray, surgery and outpatient facilities.
Kevin and Marilyn Weedman are two of the very few who can say they have seen all of these changes before their very eyes.
