The Holiday Train will roll into Alexandria this Friday, spreading a message of Christmas cheer and giving.
The train, which raises money for food shelves, is scheduled to arrive at the 8th Avenue East railroad crossing near the Hubbard Feed Mill shortly before noon.
Although the crowd was sparse this year because of sub-zero temperatures and not much pre-publicity, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train still generated some Christmas excitement – and support for the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf.
Several local artists will be hosting an Autumn Art Sale and Charity Benefit.
The sale and benefit will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 at the Lakes Area Community Center in Battle Lake.
