DILWORTH – Authorities in Clay County will be asking for assistance in finding a 16-year-old rural Dilworth girl who has been missing for a day.
Clay County Sheriff Bill Berquist said he’s planning to hold a news conference at 3:30 p.m. in rural Dilworth, outside the home of the girl’s family. Further details will be released then, the sheriff said.
The girl’s father called authorities at 7:48 p.m. Monday to report that his 16-year-old daughter was upset and had run into a cornfield northeast of Dilworth about 3 p.m. and hadn’t come out yet. He said he was concerned about how long she was out there, and that she wasn’t wearing a jacket, according to the police dispatch log.
Bergquist said that Clay County deputies searched for the girl with a bloodhound for several hours on Monday and continued the search today.
