With my arms flailing high in the air, fists shaking in that “I did it!” motion – like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky when he climbed that mammoth mountain of steps – I crossed the finish line of my first 10K race.
I did it. I finally reached the number I’ve been aiming for.
And I only have my readers to thank.

Skating needs to make a comeback.
No, not the winter, ice skating kind or the summer, inline or Rollerblading kind. The good old-fashioned roller skating kind with the tanish-brown, semi ugly skates with the four lovely orange wheels.
Over the last 10 years as a news reporter for the Echo Press, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the most incredible people, learn about their lives – some were awe-inspiring, some were jaw-dropping – and share the stories with our readers, through print media and the Internet.
So the other day, I was on my 15-year-old son’s Facebook page. Yes, I check his account on a regular basis. As I was scrolling through, I was stupefied at some of the posts from his friends and other teenagers – some older, some younger, some boys, some girls.
