The Internal Revenue Service announced recently that taxpayers who buy a new passenger vehicle this year may be entitled to deduct state and local sales and excise taxes paid on the purchase on their 2009 tax returns next year.
Horse owners want to be included in Minnesota's agriculture industry. Bills currently making their way through the Legislature are designed to provide a "clear and decisive definition of horses as livestock," horse farmer David Dayon of St. Michael said. The change could give farmers who raise horses for a living tax breaks, while not giving the same advantages to people who raise a few horses for recreation.
Bills making it legal for severely ill Minnesotans to use marijuana to ease their pain continues moving through the House and Senate.
