Human bones and a skull, unearthed near the shores of Big Pine Lake, northwest of New York Mills, Thursday morning, August 27, are believed to be American Indian and "very old," according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department.
Michael J. “Mike” Hagel, 49, of New York Mills, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Lakeland Hospice. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 30 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with the Rev. Andy Tumberg, Chaplain Jim Knoll and Doug Hill officiating. All of Mike’s close friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills.
