More than 350 people crammed into city hall’s council chambers to attend the event organized by state DFLers, which they say is part of a bi-partisan statewide tour meant to solicit ideas for solving the state’s budget crisis. Some Republicans have criticized the effort, calling the tour a political stunt and an excuse to bash the governor’s budget proposal.
The Alexandria School Board has approved an agreement between District 206 and the city of Carlos.
At its meeting Monday night, the board agreed to donate a parcel of land by Carlos Elementary School to the city for construction of a new fire hall.
Bill Peterson and the late Jerry Kluver of Alexandria were inducted into the Viking Speedway Hall of Fame last Saturday, being inducted for their accomplishments as drivers, as well as a lifetime of contributions, service and dedication to the Viking Speedway.
Elda C. Hall, 87, of Mayville, N.D., died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, Mayville office.
A memorial service was held at Eksjo Lutheran Church, near Lake Park, on Friday, July 18, with interment following at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
Memorials are preferred sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Altru Home Health, both in Mayville, N.D.
