The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to temporarily suspend a provision in the 2008 Farm Bill that would have prohibited producers from receiving commodity payments if they have less than 10 base acres.
After working on the reauthorization since 2003 with 13 extensions, lawmakers have reached agreement on the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, the bill that sets federal higher education policy every five years.
Congressman Collin Peterson supported a bipartisan supplemental appropriations bill that includes expansion of the GI Bill of Rights, funding for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, an extension of unemployment benefits, and emergency relief for areas devastated by flooding.
