Now that we’ve had our first big snowfall of the season it should signal drivers to be prepared for wintry conditions ahead.
In years past, the first few significant snowfalls have thrown drivers off track, resulting in vehicles sliding off the road or crashing into one another. It’s as if people’s winter driving skills are hibernating. That’s why it’s important to be prepared now.

Thinking about poaching a deer? Think again. Your chances of getting caught and paying a hefty fine are greater than you think. No matter how badly you want that big buck, don’t do it.
Here’s added incentive: To discourage hunters from illegally taking deer, conservation officers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are setting up decoys to catch the over-eager hunter in the act.

Over the next two decades, Minnesota will spend an estimated $2 billion in Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment funds to make our lakes and rivers cleaner. In 2008, Minnesota's voters passed the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment (Legacy Amendment) to the Minnesota Constitution to accomplish four goals: to protect drinking water sources; to protect, enhance, and restore wetlands, prairies, forests, and fish, game, and wildlife habitat; to preserve arts and cultural heritage; to support parks and trails; and to protect, enhance, and restore lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater.
